Since I lost my father to lung cancer February 27, 2014, I find dimes.....a lot.
Holy Moly!
Shortly after he passed away I was substitute teaching for a resource room teacher. While picking up the children a little boy said, "Holy Moly, where did they come from? On the floor were 7 dimes. Very odd to see in a primary school hallway. Some months later we were telling a cousin about it. She said to my mother, "Don't you have 7 grandchildren?" 7 dimes...7 grandchildren. Wow.
Chain of Happiness
The other time I has to do with my new job. For years I had been struggling to get a position as a School Librarian. I failed the required test multiple times. You can see my brief story about that here-The Test: A Journey of Love http://tomphilbin.weebly.com/remembrance.html
On July 29th, two days before my 54th birthday I was hired to be a part-time school librarian in two schools. Within two weeks, I found a dime on each of my desks.
Funny thing is that we were in British Columbia, Canada when I got a call to interview, but I was not going to be home in time, so they said goodbye and that was that.....until a couple of days later when we were leaving. The principal of Maurice W. Downing Primary School called my cell phone as we were starting our long drive back to NY. She called just before we got to an area where cell phone service drops out. She told me it was not too late after all. I was invited to come in for an interview the following week. I got the job.
So back to those dimes on the desk. The dime on the desk of the school I got interviewed and hired by, was a Canadian dime.
Perhaps my father trying to tell me he was watching over me, in Canada and the states.
